January 29, 2018
Imua Family Services announces the first Annual Color Festival Hawaii on Sunday April 1, 2018 from 1pm – 5pm at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center.
Color Festivals around the world began from a traditional Indian Festival called Holi. Holi is one of the largest festivals in India and is celebrated by people throwing colored powder in the air and at each other. Holi is celebrated in India at the end of the winter season on the last full moon day of the lunar month, bringing people from all social circles together for an exhilarating community experience. Color Festivals around the world have come to symbolize a fresh start and celebrates the coming of spring.
The message behind the Color Festival Hawaii is “inclusion,” that we are all under the same rainbow, living and celebrating life together. Imua Family Services is proud to bring the Color Festival Hawaii to Maui as a fundraiser and a friend-raiser. This family-friendly event includes live music, food trucks and vendors and activities for kids.
The Color Festival Hawaii will be a spectacular and colorful event that will feature energetic, non-stop live performances including Indian music and dance and taiko drummers. Local Maui groups will include live music from DJ Boomshot, Eric Gilliom and Band, Shea Butter & The Cream and The Yum Yum Beasts. Also scheduled are special guest performances from singers, actors and Broadway stage celebrities, Teal Wicks and Matt Doyle, all leading to the throwing of colors!
Admission for adults is $20; Children 6 to 16 is $15; and Children ages 5 and under are free. The price of admission includes one pack of powdered colors with additional colors available for purchase. Most participants wear pure white clothing that is then colored by the throwing of colors. Festival goers may also purchase an official event shirt to create the ultimate souvenir. Powdered colors are made of cornstarch and FDA-approved food dye and only event approved powdered colors will be allowed. Tickets can be purchased by Clicking Here.
Sponsored by Alaska Airlines, SongDivision, Maui Jim Sunglasses and edible Hawaiian Islands Magazine.
