Meet the Neeley’s #GivingTuesday

How did you learn about Imua Family Services? I read an article online in the Maui News while back home in Charlotte about the new building. Why donate to Imua Family Services ? After my second trip to Maui I had been wanting to give back in some way. I felt like the people of Maui had been so kind and the island itself was my home away from home. After reading the article and then going to the Imua website I felt immediately that this is who I wanted to help. I have an autistic nephew and knew for…

#GivingTuesday

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give- Winston Churchill “Our little Nate was diagnosed with PDD NOS. We started to notice the symptoms when he was 18 months old, and as new parents we didn’t have any idea where to seek help for our little boy. Nate’s pediatrician told us to contact IMUA Family Services and we are so grateful that we did. Nate started to get services from IMUA in June of 2013 and ended on January of 2014 when he turned 3. With IMUA’s help Nate blossomed…

The Family Man Behind Sangrita Grill

How did you first hear of Imua Family Services? It was an option for my daughter growing up. She just missed the age cutoff and we couldn’t benefit from the services. Sangrita Grill seems to be a passion project of yours. What was the seed that began all of this? I felt Maui needed an upscale Mexican food and bar featuring some of the best Tequila and Mezcal available in US.   I was closing Cilantro due to bad location after 10 years. Maui is a tight knit community. Why do you think it’s important to be involved? Because it is…

Imua talks story with Pat Mulligan of the Mini Morey Challenge

Can you give us a little background about how Morey Inc. began?  The Morey Family has been instrumental in creating the aquatic community, as we know it today. From holding the 1st professional surf contest in 1965, to the invention of the world renowned Morey Boogie Board in 1971.  (Side note: We no longer have any affiliation with the boogie board brand) Morey Inc.’s The Morey Challenge was founded in June of 2013 and is the brainchild of Sol Morey and Pat Mulligan and later joined by Alton Franco in 2014. We noticed a global trend in what is being called…

1. Paddle Imua will be three years old this year! Can you tell us how you became involved? I was launching BLUESMITHS at a time when Maile John was asking how to run an ocean event for the benefit of Maui’s special needs kids.  I was asked to give advice on paddle sports and logistics as I had done a fair few of these events by then.
